PRESS RELEASE: Liberty Guard Chairman Bob Barr Named One of The 100 Most Influential Pro-Gun Rights Advocates for 2015
— Barr is the only current or former House member to be so honored on the Newsmax online publication
(Atlanta, GA) – Liberty Guard is pleased to announce that its Chairman, Bob Barr, was listed on Newsmax’s The 100 Most Influential Pro-Gun Rights Advocates. While there are three current U.S. Senators on the list, including Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), Barr is the only current or former Representative recognized as a 2nd Amendment leader by Newsmax.
Barr, served as a Reagan-appointed U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia from 1986-1990, and represented Georgia’s 7th Congressional District from 1995 – 2003. He served on the Judiciary Committee and chaired one of its subcommittees; he also served on the Financial Services Committee and was Vice Chairman of the Government Reform and Oversight Committee. Barr was one of the most active fighters for the Second Amendment throughout his tenure in Congress.
In addition to Liberty Guard, Barr serves on the National Rifle Association’s Board of Directors. Most recently, Liberty Guard filed a Freedom of Information Act request (FOIA) to the Department of State requesting any correspondence about the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty (UN-ATT), which was signed by Secretary of State John Kerry in 2013. Liberty Guard plans to follow-up with this FOIA request regarding any real and potential conflicts between the ATT and firearms rights secured to American citizens by the 2nd Amendment.
Liberty Guard President Steve Thomas added, “The right to own and carry a firearm is a fundamental liberty and protected by the U.S. Constitution. Congressman Barr gets this; he has been a lion for 2nd Amendment freedoms for decades, and the liberty movement is fortunate to have him.”
